Oratomic reaches 775 million dollars in total funding to build utility scale fault tolerant quantum computers

IQN (NewsDesk): Quantum computing startup Oratomic has announced that it has reached 775 million dollars in total funding, a striking figure for a company that emerged from stealth mode just four months ago, as it works to build utility scale fault tolerant quantum computers.

The size of the funding total, reached so quickly after the company’s public debut, underscores the scale of investor appetite for quantum hardware companies positioning themselves around fault tolerance, widely considered the critical milestone separating today’s experimental machines from commercially transformative quantum computers. Oratomic’s rapid fundraising places it among the most heavily capitalized young companies in the quantum sector.

The announcement came on the same day as several other major funding and policy developments in the field, including a conditional 150 million dollar loan commitment to PsiQuantum aimed at advancing US quantum computing, and the Department of Energy’s release of science applications intended to guide its Quantum Genesis goal of developing fault tolerant, scientifically relevant quantum computers.
